Everyone should check out Zhihan’s Sweet Springs project “Past, Present and Future.” I promise I’m not biased when I say I was wowed when she first showed me this and I still love it.
There are a few reasons for this: first I think her visuals and sound is superb. I always forget about audio no matter how many times I remind myself (sorry to my teammates for the upcoming project.) She shoots video like a photographer but doesn’t linger too long on any one thing and some of its b-roll I see and think: “I wouldn’t have thought to shoot it like that.”
Really though the most impressive thing about these videos and Kris’ words are the impact they’ve had on the community. Zhihan can’t go anywhere in Sweet Springs without someone telling her they’ve seen her video and how much it means to them. And the people of the town have really welcomed her in despite small towns sometimes being very insular communities.
